CEL is on and now remote start isn't working

This past week I went a lil vacation and drove through Branson, MO. After filling up at a Casey's general store with less that premium (which I only use premium) my CEL kicked on and then I noticed the car felt a little sluggish and just didn't ride like it normally dose. Well after a couple days of 95+ degrees, I tried to remote start just to cool down the inside found out the remote start didn't work (light is still on). So the following day tried it again and boom! Remote start works light is off. All is well at this point. Yesterday on the way home filled up with premium at the local shell gas station and about Springfield, MO the light came back on and now the CEL is on and the remote has stopped working. Similar thing happened this past winter when we hit subzero temps. Has anyone else had similar issues??

Remote start is disabled by design when the check engine is on. The logic here is that in many cases, the check engine light signifies an issue which can result in increased emissions (thing O2 sensor, for example). The manufacturer doesn't want you to idle your car more than you need to when there's an emission increase from the vehicle.

Makes sense. Some cities don't allow idling, period.

As far as CEL, you need to pull the codes and see. We have to know the code in order to even begin guessing as to the cause.

Yeah, any autoparts store can give you the code. I'm just not sure on Casey's gas...I buy Quik Trip (which many can argue is crap too)...
