Center Console help..

After getting my stereo replaced under warranty my dealer left;

a.) pry marks on the orange area around the center console
b.) Scratched the ac/heater console panel
c.) didn't program the radio right

Giving them the car back;
They did replace the dash piece around the heat/ac dials they scratched. The pry marks in the orange area of my dash I have to live with for the rest of my ownership.. not to bad if you don't look for them.

But driving home I notice the center vent closest to me the plastic is pushed down a little near the top..like top center plastic is pushing down against it.
I think they just didn't line it up properly or something...it functions fine.

At this point I do not want them touching the dash again...clearly I am expecting too much care and detail. Maybe I can follow the instructions here on the forum for removing the center console around the stereo. I think I should be able see the center vents then and if anything is pushing against the driver one?

Well it's possible the knocked the vent loose from the inside, as it just clips in.

I would visit your local harbor freight and purchase the trim removal kit, with it you can remove just about all of your interior pieces.

Now, take the one with a 90 degree on an end end and push it in by the heater vent, you will be close to the clips in that spot, then pull and pull hard, they are tough. Once that side is free the other side is much easier.

It may feel like it is going to break, but mine hasn't broke yet.

Yeah it seems like they forgot to clip the vent in and then just shoved center console over it.
That describes it well.

I thought one just removes the two cubby lower plastic pieces and then each side of the center console has a slot to pull/pry on.. this begins the removal of the center console plastic?

The vents are connected to the dash piece.

I have never looked there for notches to pull on, I've had them pieces out a few times as well.

I've never had any problems doing it the way I described in my first post.

Fixed...

Fixed..thanks Chrish...SonicOwnersForum Rocks.

I pulled off the cubby bottoms and then in the notch on one side first I used...wait for it... popsicle sticks to pry the plastic console piece up a bit and then pulled staight out with my
bare hands. With the side off up a little I was able to pull the other side. It was really as simple as described.

Turning the center console plastic over the vents are connected with tabs to it...the one on top was pushed in and not connected.. luckily not cracked or broken so I can't bad mouth my dealer more. Console goes back by popping it in. I'm baffled why the first tech left pry marks and scratches around...with my hands I was able to pull the console out with no marks.

Nice way to improvise as well, lol

Sometimes they can be a real PIA, it took everything I had to get my RS ONE OFF, tho my LTZ was pretty easy.

I have taken the vents out of that piece before to put some vinyl carbon vinyl on that piece.
