I have a 2012 1.4L turbo with just over 50K miles. I was sitting in a parking lot today when all of a sudden I heard the engine idle increase and my stabilitrac light came on as well as the wrench and engine trouble indicators. I shut the car off and restarted. The stabilitrac light and wrench light turned off, but the engine trouble light was still on and the engine was still idling pretty high for being in neutral. When I tried to pull away I noticed it barely had any power to move. So I pulled into another spot and let the car sit. After restarting again, the idle was normal but the trouble light was still on. I took it to an autozone and had them read the code. They showed the code p2135 - throttle position sensor. The store employee suggested I bring it to the dealership and have them troubleshoot it. He said it could simply just need a reset or computer update. Has anyone else had any problems with this? Is this a recall issue? If I need to replace it and it's not a recall issue, is the work involved to replace it cumbersome?
