Coil Pack Rubber Boot Removal?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I've looked the forum and could not find the answer.
I wanted to remove the spark plugs to check the gaps because I was possibly getting blowout at higher rpms. I get to work on the coil pack and after about 10 min of slowly wiggling it out, it finally pops off ...with the four rubber boots still on the spark plugs. Now I thought I had a hard time with getting the coil pack off, I couldn't get the boots to budge at all.
I ended up just admitting defeat and inserting the coils back into their rubber boots. I need to get to those plugs, but now I feel like I don't have the right tool to remove the boot.
How do I get the rubber boots out of the spark plug cover to get to my plugs? Is there trick or method to make it easier? Any help is much appreciated!

Well I guess i will just try warming up the engine a little and give it another go. I know its not good to remove the plugs while the engine is warm, but i have to loosen those rubber boots.

oh the boots came off the coil pack? What did you have..exposed springs?

Maybe do it again and spray some silicon spray on the boot+spark plugs? You want to get the boots off without tearing the boots or cracking the parts of the coil pack that hold the boots..

I say its not fair..they did not grease them at the factory.. I checked my plug gap and I suppose by shear luck I was able to wiggle the coil pack off and not crack or break anything. I applied a tone of dielectric grease to the boots when putting it back together but I still fear taking the pack off..it seems fragile.

Yeah, considered a dab of super glue between the plastic tube and the rubber boot, but decided i best not. On my next free day I'm going to try to warm the engine a bit. Just enough to get the rubber to contract. That should tighten the grip on the plastic tube and loosen its grip on the outer edges ...or at least my 6th grade earth science class would have me believe. Once i get them off i plan using the appropriate grease so i don't have to deal with it again. Though with these plugs i hopefully wont need to for a long time. Thanks for the replies!

Finally got the boots off, took some needle nose and gave it a good twist. Plugs were basically at .28 but got them down .26. Everything is running great, it was just pita to get done.
