I'm not the owner but my wife is, so I have a vested interest. It's a new 2013 Inferno Orange LT, 1.4T. Got about 1,200 miles on it so far. Fun little car to drive up some of the canyon roads around here. If it had about another 40HP, I would be tempted to sell my '11 Malibu and buy myself a Sonic.

Haha right? Somehow my cell got both area codes 303-720-xxxx which confuses most when providing them with my number, they look at me like I am lying to them.

Since it is right down the road, I may see it around as I don't notice many inferno orange hatches in our area.

I've been reading through all those Trifecta threads until I'm about to go cross-eyed. Seems like all the numbers and tests are on the manual transmission models and most have other mods such as exhaust and intake mods. I'm beyond the manual trans. stage (years ago) and not interested in in doing any mods other than a tune. I haven't been able to find any performance gain numbers that fit my parameters. Living at over 5,000' elevation, and driving over 9,000' is a common occurrence, these little engines need all the help they can get.

There are plenty of automatic, tuned-only 1.4 members here, hopefully one can chime in on this thread, or if you asked the right questions in the Trifecta threads.

The automatic tune also comes with a tune for the TCM.

With our elevation, I have come to terms with never meeting my performance itch. Before the Sonic I daily drove a comp g gtp with more money wrapped up in it then necessary and still couldn't pull a sub 14 second 1/4 @ bandi. Its hopeless up here, unless you start off with a high hp car and have deep pockets. But a tune does help with drive-ability IMO at the very least.

If you do end up opting for a tune and don't want to purchase the cable let me know and you can use mine, or if you want to see the difference between tuned and un-tuned i'm sure there is a few of us here in the area that can assist with that.

Hello, I would suggest using midgrade (87 oct), our RS runs better then regular (85 oct) and mileage seems better also.

Thanks all for the welcome. This is the wife's car and I'm sure she won't let me do anything to it. If it was mine, it would be a different story. I'm driving it this week just to get a mileage comparison to my 2.4 L Malibu. It's a fun little car to drive, but I'm thinking I will be glad to get back into my car next week. So far the Sonic is getting 37 mpg on my commute (about 60 miles per day) and the Malibu gets 29 mpg. We'll see at the end of the week. It will be a pretty accurate number then. 87 octane is what she is running in it, same as my car.

Hello, just got a '13 Sonic sedan a couple of weeks ago. Replaced my DD Geo Metro that had 340,000 miles on it. I am in Colorado also. I am getting 39 MPG so far on my daily commute.

After 4 days, I was averaging just a tick under 38 mpg. Not too shabby, but I will say it was nice to get back into my Malibu. Don't think I will be making that switch anytime soon. Fun little car to drive, no doubt, but for now I will go ahead and use that extra 1/2 gallon per day on my commute.
