Constant "misfire" car not a yr old yet!

I bought my 2014 Sonic 1.8 In Nov of '14. It has developed what the dealer is calling a misfire. I go to start it and it will just keep cranking and when I go to turn it off it's still trying to start . I thought it was the starter but was told it was a misfire. Had it to the dealer 3 times, the last time they had it a week to "recreate" the problem which finally they did. I took videos of the problem to assist with trying to diagnose. Well the day I brought it home after it was "fixed" it happened again the second time I started it. I was told to put Top Tier gas in it which I have been doing but still have the same issue.
The girl in the service dept asked me if I want out of this car or want it fixed. I told her I want a car I can start my first time out. She had a salesman to call me who said GM has a great program to assist me and will give me a good down payment towards another car. I don't want to be upside down that much to get another car. The down payment would have to totally pay off my car. I don't want to go and refinance a car. I've paid almost a yr on this one. I just want the dealer to swap me out a car.

document EVERY instance it's been in the dealership. Keep good records... I'm not sure what your state's lemon law is, but that could be an option..

I have keep track of the day it's happened and how many times a day it's happened. I live in WV.

Come on ppl. What would you all do if this was your car? This thread has been read 72 times and only one comment? That's all I want to know is if this was your car what would you do?

What Natesriv said is true, keep documenting, keep persisting, be polite, and don't give up.

A google search will likely bring up Lemon Laws in your state.

If possible, find another dealer to work on your car if your current dealer isn't solving your problem. I had a weird electrical issue that one dealer kept on insisting was my fault because I was using heated seats. I took it to another dealer and they solved it in an hour.

TAC was working on this issue at one point. Ask the dealer to call TAC engineers for assistance. The car is actually dieseling in open loop that is why you are seeing this issue. Give us update when you know more.

Also, if you can go to a Shell and fill up with Nitro+ 91 or greater octane. If not Shell, get 91+ octane at QT or Chevron, if the are available.

Crank or cam.position sensors go in Gm cars and this causes them to not start and or run funny. It would be worse in a variable cam engine.
In my Cobalt the cam.position sensor was put in wrong and the car would crank and nothing. Then backfire and start up
