Dash and Door Panel Inserts

Has anyone removed the center inserts on the dash and door panels? I have a sedan LT model and the interior is black and grey. I want to change the grey center inserts to black ones from the RS. Or possible even to the Inferno Orange ones. But does it require me to remove the entire dash??

the two tone grey/black

the all black RS version. (also comes with high gloss black lower console and window switch cover)

Inferno Orange version?

My cars exterior is victory red with a jet black/grey interior. So i will be going with a red/black carbon fiber vinyl look to match both the interior and exterior. I wish i could post pics but don't know how to do it from my phone.

yea i'm aware the color combos vary. but i want to know if anyone has tried to change or remove theirs and what's involved in doing so.

Sorry i misunderstood what you was talking about. I'm in the process myself once i have more funds to do it. If i can do a write up on my phone I'll try to make it a sticky thread so people don't have to constantly search all the time.

Anyone know how to or has removed the door panals the one's where the chrome door handle is located.

Theres a little square cover that you have to pull off. Then theres a screw under that.

Here's some pics of a vinyl job a friend did on his Cruze. The accents do separate, and he 3M glued a thin layer of foam and then stretched some red vinyl over it. The pics prolly won't do justice. It looked luxurious.

Man that does look luxurious!!! So he removed the pieces padded them then wrapped in vinyl like reupholstering a chair kinda?? I am def going to try this once I get into my interior.

aside from paint or dip, the only way to change the doors inserts is to break the melted weld things that hold it in and glue id assume? or buy the correct panel you want. i wouldnt trust glue to hold up on the doors. and http://www.sonicownersforum.com/forum/do-yourself-articles/2947-trim-interior-parts-removal-3.html may help some
