dash removal and painting

I have heard a lot of people talking and asking about the textured pieces on the dash. People are wondering if it is possible to remove these pieces. I have removed mine..as well as the textured pieces on door panels. It is pretty easy with some basic mechanical skills. I would be glad to go through the steps if anybody would like to know.

The paint looks great, not for me, but I've always wondered if you could remove the textured part and cover it with a cloth or a softer material.
