Im trying to instal so HIDs and was wondering if anyone has figured out how to disable the DRLs so that they dont fry the HIDs

Do some easy searches. There are some who have opted the hid route, while most of us have just upgraded the stock bulb due to lack of projector housing and being a a-hole with projectors blinding people.

do you still have the DRLs enabled? are your HIDs running all the time?

yeah i'm trying to disable the DRLs completely, but keep the automatic headlights. I wonder if there's a relay that would be able to sense the difference in voltage and only make the headlights come on when its at the higher voltage, >14v?

ok I think I figured out what should work:
at the headlights there are two wiring connections: one with 3 wires for the low/high-beams/ground, and another with 3 wires for the turn signal low/high/ground.
cut the low beam power wire at the headlight and replace it with a power wire that's activated via a relay from the low turn signal (parking light).
this way, the headlights will only come on when the parking lights come on, which should still come on automatically with the auto setting, and will be off during the day. I will probably lose the ability to have only the parking lights on though, and I have to double check if the parking light voltage is cut when the turn signal is activated.
the whole point of this is that I'm going to do some LED DRLs and I don't want the headlights to be on too.

The larger connector is actually powering both the high/low beams. There are only 2 wires leading into the low beam port. IIRC the DRL current is coming from the same power source and just lowered to 6 volts instead of 12. This is why a HID kit would flicker without the relay or turned on. Disabling the DRL's may be more difficult than splicing wires.

I believe the lower intensity DRLs are not due to simply lowering the voltage but is accomplished by PWM. That is what causes problems with HIDs or even a relay can buzz due to the PWM frequency. Some guys over on cruzetalk have had success putting a capacitor across the relay coil terminals to smooth out the power and keep it from turning into a buzzer.

1) Don't get HIDs unless you have projectors to put them in. HIDs in reflector type headlights (that are not designed for them) equals glare for other drivers and a pretty "blobby" cutoff. If you're trying to achieve the blue "Mercedes look" you won't get it this way. You need to retrofit projectors in there. (See my build thread).
2) 35watt is more than enough. I recommend 4300k or 5000k. You'll get the most output. You should probably aim the headlights down (although it negates the benefit of HIDs) or you'll be blinding everyone else.
You'll need a relay.
I understand there are folks that don't have $400+ to spend on modding headlights, but why go through the trouble of installing HIDs (bumper removal, drilling weather caps, mounting ballasts, installing relay) if you're just going to throw light everywhere and get flashed by other drivers and possibly attract cops? At least a retro produces a legit cutoff that isn't blinding. Just my $.02.

How to deactivate front light for DRL?
The EU is obliged lighting. When I turn on the engine,my front light is automatically turn on.
I do not have switch for light off.
Switch position "left" : front light ON
Switch position "right" : front light ON + interior illumination,steering and radio
Switch position "middle" : front light OFF and parking lights is ON
By EÚ law they can not shine-work together front and DRL light.
The day time: DRL or front light
The night time: front light
