DIY - $33.54 Intake Using Stock Air Box

$14.99 2.75" to 2.25" 90 degree coupler
$11.99 3" O.D. 45 degree polymer elbow (from Autozone)
$6.56 2.75" coupler with t-clamp

TOTAL - $33.54 and some elbow grease











Thank you all for the feedback. I was excited at the simplicity! Quite a bit of elbrow grease was needed to stretch the couplers over the polymer tube and get proper placement without cutting. Our cars just beg for this mod. Very easy and inexpensive.

I'll run some tests and get a better answer on that. It took quite a bit of force and it doesn't move at all - but it's possible there's some leakage.

I'd try to throw a coupler between the maf and pipe, and a couple of worm gear clamps, but other than it all looks pretty inexpensive.

Any performance benefit to this versus the factory 1.4 tube? My factory 1.4 stock tube seems in good shape.

Not much really other than pice of mind
Unless you're modded some just going from stock

I pulled back the wheel well liner today and cut the snorkel off the stock air box. Note to everyone..I read that some just pulled it it off but when I pulled it started to crack the plastic tube/rubber coupler to the air box.
I ended up getting a box cutter and cut the felt snorkel right at the coupler. I then took the air box out so I could get at the plastic+rubber coupler. I crafted/dremmeled a speaker tube to end of the coupler ..hangs down in the bumper area. Its not a smooth funnel into the intake tube/coupler because there is a gap where the felt tube was attached. I left the snorkel hanging in there..did not have time to detach it.

I dremmeled some more ridges/fins out of the inside of the stock air box before putting it back together.

I did not get any pictures.. I was late for a dinner. I guess there is a some more noise..it's a subtle difference if any.. I notice my intake temperature on the ultraguage was 3 to 10 degrees of outside temperature but I think it was always like that... I can't see getting any colder air into the intake .. I have some peace of mind knowing that the snorkel is not restricting air.

I believe stock ( for me ) it's 20 above ambient

But the only way to get cooler would be to do something like a ddm or m fab intake and have a hood scoop
