I would think the first RS was tested hard by Chevy or destroyed by the IIHS.

Auto trans? The first group of regular production RS Sonics were automatics, but my memory is they were October builds. Did you buy yours used?

Yes I bought mine used. Its a red 6speed manual. I was told by GM it was first sold in Sept 2012 . Carfax shows it was registered months after. So my thought is that GM had it in some showroom before it was actually sold to the original buyer.
I probably need to order the build sheet.

Also, look for OAR and WDO on the RPO sticker, in the spare tire well. If those are there, you have a Captured Test Fleet vehicle.
If you have the Window Sticker and it shows shipped to Orion Assembly Plant or GM HQ in Detroit, you have a Captured Test Fleet vehicle.
I am predicting you have a CTF.

Actually, I believe just the opposite. Many if not most of the CTFs are destroyed, but a small number, say a few dozen, go on the used car market through an auction only Chevy dealers can bid on. These are carefully detailed before going to auction. Many were driven by the assembly plant managers or the Chevy engineers or used as show cars.
There is no great value other than the personal pleasure of owning a pre-production build. But I think you will find that is all you need.

That is a CTF. OAR is batch assembly. I should have said and/or.

Maybe, but more likely it did not go to auction for several months. It seems GM holds the CTFs for an extended period of time, for reasons unknown to me.
Although I have long desired to own a CTF, I am not patient enough to wait. In fact, I long ago said I planned to wait for the Gen6 Camaro CTFs but I now see me ordering one next month. There is a ton of irony there.

I would think not very many. Most are scrapped. But as a guide, the C7 had about 40 of 300 survive and go to market and I doubt the Sonic had 300 to start with.
It is easier to get Corvette info because there is such a huge fan base who are always ferreting out what is going on. So widespread is the interest that every April there is a multi day presentation by GM that summarizes the model year ending and previews what will be in the new model year upcoming. My memory is it sells out even those years when Corvette sales are down.
