Any advice on how to keep dogs in the back seat? I have a cloth type barrier that hooks onto the two front seats. It works great for our big dog but our little puppy has managed to wriggle under it and he could get over it if I don't push him back. It's annoying.

We tried a metal barrier that we got a pet supplies store but it fell on them because it didn't quite fit right.

Any suggestions? I drive a 2012 sedan back Sonic.

I might just get them seat belts if nothing else works. They would hate that.

Sedan? Put em in the trunk. Sorry I do not have any good advice here. My two stay put when in the car. The iguana is a completly different story though :/

The puppy would somehow slither right over the hammock. We have something like this and he would be able to slither over it if I didn't reach up and push him back. It's a huge distraction and all that. He's only knee-height so I don't know how he does it.

I'm also concerned that he would chew a harness/seat belt because puppies are jerks like that. I think if we need to take him on a long trip, it might be best to use our station wagon, put the seats down, and crate him. At least until he outgrows the urge to chew everything in the car. He's only really chew-happy in the car for some reason, even though I throw plenty of toys in the back seat with him.

But he's such a cute jerk.

That's a good idea to let him outgrow the chewing and jumping in a crate. I've got an adult and she doesn't mind being in the back although she loves riding up front with her seatbelt on. It's just I've got an RS with black interior and she's a long haired white Border Collie. Not a good mix of mutt and car color. She's one of the reasons I was looking at an LS. Cloth seats and plastic everywhere....

Cloth seats won't necessarily be easier to clean if you have a dog who sheds a lot. They're harder to get the hair out of.

Even with a long-haired dog, some of the hair will literally get into the fabric.

True. I wasn't so much worried about the dog hair getting into the cloth seats, my last car had cloth, it's just I don't care as much about cloth getting dirty as I do about leather getting damaged or white hair getting into black carpet instead of grey carpet.

I feel you. My hatch is now white from her. This time of year is the worst and no amount of brushing or shedding shampoo helps

Bump.

I am looking for something for my 2014 Hatchback RS. My Chocolate lab is very hyper in the car. Anyone have a medal barrier, or mesh barrier that covers floor to ceiling you would recommend, if it's not floor to ceiling I think my little (big) guy will jump straight over.
