Engine cleaning and sensors

I need to clean off oil from my engine b/c it's gross and I need to find where the leak is coming from (I'll use dye if this doesn't work, needs to be cleaned anyway).

I was wondering what sensors should be covered so they don't get wet when rinsing? Are there any in particular that are sensitive to water, or should I just not worry about them at all?

If the oil is on the front, my 1.8 had an oil leak = right behind the exhaust manifold. It was the oil cooler.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out.

Was your leak extensive and/or your oil (Mobile 1) cooked by 3k? My theory is that b/c of the constant leak and lower-than-optimal oil levels (I check every two weeks and I never allow it to reach top of lower hash marks) means faster oil wear since there is less of it.

So much for 10k, though I wouldn't push it past 5k anyway.

The first time I notice my oil leak was caused by it Dripping on the exhaust system I could smell burning oil when I watched some YouTube videos I found out the oil coolers under there and that's exactly what fixed it
