So my buddies dad owns a shop and we've decided on a engine swap. Anyone have any ideas on what a good consideration would be. I'm considering an ls1 right now.
I know this post was necro'd rather recently, but I wanted to leave this here in case the OP ever came back.
LS4 - This is the FWD v8 from GM. Aluminum block instead of cast iron, 5.3 Liter, adapted for transverse FWD applications. This 303 HP monster weighs 478 lbs, and was used in the Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, Chevrolet Impala SS, Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, and the Buick LaCrosse Super. If buying a crate engine is too expensive, you can always try to find one in a junkyard and refurbish it on your own time.
MR6/F40 - Transverse FWD 6-speed manual transmission that
should match up to the LS4 bellhousing. Aluminum cast, 124 lbs, and certified for up to 295 ft-lbs of engine torque. Used in Pontiac G6 GTP/GT, SAAB 9-3/9-5, Buick Regal/Verano, Alpha Romeo 156/159/166/Brera, Lancia Thesis.
Just some food for thought.
