F17 factory GM fluid

Sorry, I know this must have been covered, but I'll be darned if I can find it. What is the exact GM fluid the 1.8 F17 5-speed manual transmission takes? Also, when doing a fluid change all I should need, parts-wise, is the cover gasket, correct? (other than 2 quarts of the fluid). Thanks!

Does the F17 5 speed take the same fluid as the 6 speed? Rock Auto has it listed as BOT 303 Modified Manual Transmission fluid 70W GL4 for the 6 speed. Anyone?

I'm not in a super hurry, which is why I left a day between each post. I had hoped after 128 views, someone might have some input. Thank you for your reply. I did call the local dealer and they didn't know. They said it was a lifetime fluid which is why I posted here. The GM Powertrain link is unfortunately broken. I did find, buried in the AC Delco site, that the 5 and 6 speeds might take the same fluid but it was a little vague. Incidentally, the dealer wanted $47.99 per quart for the BOT GL4 fluid which can be found online at $20-$25 a quart.

Use Amsoil Synchromesh or Redline MT-90 75w-90. Those are the community recommended fluids since these tranny's tend to grenade themselves over a period of time. They also sit at around $15-17 a quart. Fill to 2.5-3qts.

The manual should have had that information in it as well. "Lifetime" is basically the expected lifetime that you'll have the vehicle. Typically to around when the warranty expires at either 5 years or 100k miles.
