First Dealer Service

Ive got the mpfab downtube , zzp intake and budget tune.

This will be my first service visit to the dealer where I bought it...as they called to bring it in.

Should I retro fit the original intake and exhaust? Really dont want to have to pull of the downpipe as it was a PITA...but if i dont they will suspect a tune Im sure...

Im not having any major issues....auto trans had a few drips...but seems very intermittent.

Tire rotation hasnt been done yet at 15000 miles.

You're taking a chance with your power train warranty if you leave the down pipe in the car.

Hmmm it doesnt seem worth it to take it all off just for their basic servicing unless they check other stuff..maybe I won't bother taking it in.

I was wondering why you were taking it to the dealer for service. If it isn't some freebie or some type of recall, I never take my vehicles to a dealer. Regular maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations I just do myself.

I get all of my oil changes done at the dealer. I have a 50% off for life card from the dealership for oil changes. So I get a Mobil One Full Synthetic Oil change for $32.00.

$32 ain't bad. That's about what I pay for a 5qt jug of Mobil One 5w-30 and a Delco Oil Filter when I change it myself. I don't have to make the appointment, drive to the dealership, and I know the drain plug and oil filter housing are tightened correctly.

This is one of the reason I do my own oil changes, its happen to my other cars and my winter beater.

I've always had a question i wasnt sure about. Will either myself or say, jiffylube changing my oil void any type of warranty? I'm almost positive it wont but i was never 100% sure. I'd much rather do this than get overcharged at the dealer and also worry about going back to stock, which is quite the PITA.

keep receipts, note in your owners manual when you changed anything and the mileage. I do all my own maintenance (as far as I'm capable) and I make sure to note and save.

But I'd never use jiffy lube or any 10 minute place.

We don't have any places like Jiffy Lube here so the idea of doing an oil change yourself is strange as it is done by the Chev dealer during a service.

Our service intervals is every 15,000 km or 9,320 miles even for the 1.4T model.

All new cars include some sort of service plan up to 60,000 km in the sticker price so you pay nothing for services except for wear and tear items like tires, brakes and clutch.

I took my new to me Sonic into the dealer at 10k miles as the change oil idiot code had made an appearance. Said as far as I knew it was the first time back to a dealer so thought they would want to inspect it as part of an initial service. They said nope and sent me over to their quick lube unit. Said they essentially only inspect them if I report an issue. So next time it's down the street to the locally owned service center.

I got a free 25K mile service plan with my Sonic. The downpipe is the only concerning this. From my understanding, you can change the intake, any exhaust elements from the cat-back without voiding warranty.

The tune would definitely void the warranty, if they find it.
