I just purchased my sonic LT turbo six speed 2 night's ago and I'm amazed at how nice it is, at least compared to my old cars. First thing I noticed though is it's saying my average mpg was like 45 mpg I thought these things got 40 tops. I'm not complaining, just wondering if these are capable of that or if mine it's it if calibration. Also what are some of the first mods people usually do to these? I don't have plans for mine yet, I just wanna see what others are doing.

Just gonna edit this because I was dumb and didn't read the thread about not asking technical questions or mods first, oops. Anyways I'm a young guy from mn, and I just wanna see what other people do with these cars.

Welcome aboard! 45 mpg is doable.........highway.....tailwind....light foot.

I have the lower mpg 1.8L automatic. According to my DIC it gets 45mpg at a steady, level, 45mph. The highway rating is 35mpg.

Awesome, I'm coming from a 94 silverado that got 10 mpg so this almost seemed impossible.

Yeah is be lying if I didn't floor it allot since the gas mileage tests. Kinda wish I had more power but it's fun having a 6 speed instead of the 5 that I'm used to.

Welcome to the forum and I came from V8 all wheel drive 4Runner getting about the same mileage and I couldn't be happier with the car!!! :banana:

Yeah those v8s.. I wanted to get a Pontiac G8 but I really needed better mileage to get my daughter to and from her mom's house(40 miles away) since her mom doesn't drive. Working on that 10 post thing. I just get so detracted admiring everyone's photos.

I've never seen 40mpg out of mine, probably never will. My average over 18 months of driving and manually calculating my gas mileage is 32mpg.

Never trust the onboard mpg computer. It will be off at least 2-3mpg over what you are really getting.

Even if it's off by that much I'm still over 40. My driving has loosened up a bit though I've been having more fun so the avg mpg has gone down.
