Flex dip review

Today I tried the rust-oleum flex dip black.
Quality- the quality is really well no over spray coats wonderful.
Dry time- the dry time was actually pretty quick today was about 60 degrees and it dried in about 2-5 min.
Final result- the final result of the flex dip. I would choose this over plasti dip. Love the way to coats and the Finish it has when dried.still needed 4 coats but looks great.

If done right plasti dip can make your car look decent. I don't think mine looks cheap. I think if you stick to accents and not over do it, then it'll look decent. I am soo glad I got rid of my plasti dip'd wheels though.

I disagree.

I'll only agree if we're referring to a car that is total junk to begin with ($500-$1000 winter beaters). Anything new with dip on it is completely ridiculous IMO.

If you have no imagination and just want to see what something looks like before powder coating or painting, I'm all for it. Just don't rock it for months thinking it looks good. In person it's easily identifiable and looks bad.

I would rather see a completely stock, extremely clean, well taken care of vehicle regardless of make. Over anything covered in dip any day.

I feel I'm in the minority on this site though, oh well.

Yeah agreed, if this was a Ferrari forum or even a forum for a car that costs $40K+ I can see the snobby approach to Plastidip but it's not it is an econobox sub $20K car forum so what did you expect?? Everyone to be spending 3x the price of the wheels to powdercoat them??

I really have no clue why such hate for Plastidip, please enlighten us, and do not just say plastidip is not a mod because that is the worst excuse I have ever heard . Even an expensive mod done poorly will look bad.

I used vinyl to change the color of mine. I can see were Plastidip/ Flex Dip can look horrible, but that doesn't mean it is always bad. I think that if it is done well it can look great. The best I see is when it is only used on accents like Kuntryboy865 mentioned.

Maybe all of his hate is because he is a Lions fan. I would be mad all of the time if they were my favorite team

I was born and raised in Detroit and am a Lions fan and have been for as long as I can remember and I do not have hatred towards an inanimate rubberized spray product??

I've had plenty of compliments on my gold plasti dipped rims. Many ask if the car comes with gold rims from the dealer/factory.

Purchase the factory window trim that's already black on LS models.

Just because the car is inexpensive doesn't mean you need to cheap out on plastidip instead of powder coating or paint. If you can purchase a brand new vehicle you can afford the cost of PC or paint that'll actually enhance the look of your vehicle.

Im confused. Isnt plasti dip paint? It protects the exterior, looks awesome when done properly, and costs way less than alternatives. Why go through the trouble of doing something permanent and that costs more. Guess that makes me cheap. Ill spend the money saved on my newborn and 2 year old...

Florida has helped you loose the hate, since their football teams are so bad. I lived in Orlando from 09-11 and hated that they "had" to air their state games. Luckily I used the internet to be able to watch the Packer games. Also helped that they went on to win the Superbowl.

Yeah Lions were VERY BAD in the past....does 0-16 ring a bell Florida teams are bad but never that bad....no one has ever been that bad, we are the best bad team there ever was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banana:

No. One is a temporary, removable rubberized coating; the other is an acrylic polymer used for permanently changing the surface color of an item.

This statement is just plain silly. IMO I think your whole view is silly. My ENTIRE car is dipped, wheels, trim, prototype parts. I have had my car about a year and a half. Only had it dipped for the winter and in the past month(finally over freezing), I've had 5 suppliers at work ask about it, 3 individuals roll their window down mid stop light to ask, the guy working the window at Taco Bell, A random guy down the street to my parents house walk down just to talk to me about my paint. I must be doing something wrong with my "cheap, crappy, poor excuse for a paint job" and it cost me under $400.

I own(lease) my sonic. I do not have $2-5k+ for a custom paint job nor would I ever justify spending that much on a vehicle under $20K.

Can dip be done poorly? Of course, and so can paint. Are there pros and cons to the process, yup. Do people make stupid designs and random shapes that shouldn't be "blacked out", yup it irritates me too.

Its simply a material and a process. You are just too stubborn to open your eyes to benefits of such an interesting product.

where did you get your vinyl from? is it custom cut or did you cut a sheet to fit?

I dipped my rear bumper some time back, and later got rear ended. Took it to a body shop who determined it had to be replaced, when they got the replacement in, they realized it did not look the same as the original so they reordered it.

Are you with me here? A professional body shop did not realize they were looking at a plastidip job, they thought it was a factory original.

I feel no shame for my plastidipped accents. Then again, I actively enjoy telling people about my duck tape stripes. If I'm embarrassed about anything, it's the thousand dollars I spent on wheels, not the $40 I spent on a few cans of dip and rolls of duck.
