Front Window Replacement?

Has anybody had the front window replaced in an RS? I waited 6 months to get one special ordered from the dealer and I'm here to get it installed and it's not right. I guess the RS has an underlay on the trim and the standard Sonic has a wrap around trim? I am told a replacement RS window is not available from Chevy so I told them to use the standard. Anybody else have this issue? The difference is exposed edges of the glass on the RS, standard Sonic has rubber that raps around the glass. I've been driving around for 6 months with a huge crack, so I'm not going to wait any longer. Just seems weird Chevy can't find me a window...

I had a crack in my 2013 RS when I had it. I also had the weird glass seal edge you talk of. I did not ask for oem glass. I had a local shop put aftermarket glass in. It cost around $100 if iirc and looked exactly like oem. I had the sonic probably 6 more months after the replacememt with no problems.

I did get a couple of quotes. At my dealership, a glass vendor told me when he looked up my vin there was a very short period of time when chevy used the different glass seal edge. Maybe my build thread has more info. I'll try to look later. I also kept and still have all my sonic receipts. Maybe I can find a pn or something more useful.

Found my receipt. Advanced Auto Glass replaced my windshield in October 2016. Was more expensive than I remembered at $291 with tax oops sorry. Part number says DW02081GBY. Comes up as a nags windshield with the blue solar controlled strip. Like I said before my the replacement looked great with no leaks.

Thanks Karen! I got the same window DW02081GBY, list was only $144.27 and $125 for the install. I've got glass coverage so it was only $100 out of pocket for me, the end bill was $300 total that included a "kit" for $30, what ever that is. It fits fine and looks fine, I forgot to take a picture but it's the same window it just has a rubber seal around the outside edge of the glass where as the OEM did not have the rubber seal on top of the window, only under so you could see the edge of the glass. Only a true RS fan or owner would notice. The window they got for the dealer special order was the same ending part GBY, it had the right seal but was missing the electronic connection for the onstar I guess. I'm happy with the replacement, and the OEM from the dealer had a list price of $600... Another reason I love this car, parts are so cheap.

That's good! So glad everything worked out. To be honest, I don't remember what kind of seal I had after the replacement. I don't know if they kept it under the glass like oem or if they made the seal all around the glass like all the other sonics.
