So some dumbass comes into the shop last week, complaining of a check engine light, apparently came on after he changed the oil. Turns out, this was the first oil change the car got since new, and it has 35,000+ miles on it.
check engine light was for camshaft correlation if anyone was interested.
anyways; The motor and turbo were totally F'd in the A. and I snagged the turbo, as it was denied for core. It is totally F'd, like I said, but its interesting to see its design and size.
some Basic specs I can tell from the Outside:
Garrett Brand Turbo,
Ball Bearing, water cooled center section.
Exhaust is single scroll with a .4 AR, Compressor is .42 AR with integral bypass.
I havent got it appart yet, but when I do, Ill take some precises measurements for future reference; it should prove usefull in determining if a compressor upgrade is possible.
some other notes, porting of the exhaust housing, especially the turbine and wastegate discharge areas could yeild some noticable improvements when the boost/power levels are raised.
Ill keep you updated and try to load some pics here soon.
