Grill chrome plasti dip tips ?

hey guys,

just did a plasti dip on the chrome grill surround but it turned out pretty bad so off it came.

does anyone have any tips as to how to get the edges nice on the inside? i assume you tape right to the edge because if you leave a gap its going to be hard to peel off the grill ?

any help would be great!
