Guide for 6 speed shifter assembly replacement?

The shift knob on my wife's 2013 has basically disintegrated. I understand that there's no reasonable way to replace just the shift knob, and that I need to replace the entire shifter assembly. I've found a few online for sale (P/N 25194236 seems to be the right assembly), but I can't find a step by step guide to replacing it anywhere. Does this exist? Despite being reasonably handy everything I touch on this car breaks, so I'm hesitant to do it myself, but the dealer near us is awful...

Is this on a manual? If so, it's very easy to put a new shift knob on the 6 speed. Pull the old one off and use a tap and die kit. 1/2" x 20 worked for me. Then I bought a knob with the thread pattern I needed on eBay.

If you're breaking things when you try to fix them try to ease off on how much strength you're using.

It's press fit on with a retaining pin that's screwed in. It will basically yank off.
