Hey y’all new here and wanted to share my experience replacing my heater outlet hose
(The hose on the top of the heater core feed not the bottom)
Had a hard time finding the OUTLET hose online, and they didn’t come with the connector you need so have to buy separate.
First off I used GM genuine parts here are the parts numbers
Outlet Hose 96958216
Connector 95089363
Everything was simple enough.
1.Drain coolant.
2. Use a flat head to pull up on the heater core hose connector pin, it’s metal, then gently pull off.
3. (Hardest part) Undo the hose clamp on the bottom of the outlet hose, they are the non screw to tighten type.
I didn’t use any special pliers, I would highly recommend you get some.
4. Take off the hose once you wiggle the clamp on the bottom part of the hose away.
5. Take your new hose and attach it to your new connector on the correct side, attach your hose clamp at the top, Pull up on connector pin, insert into the heater core all the way.
5. Install the bottom end of your hose to its home and put back the hose clamp.
6. Fill coolant back up and burp the system for air.
(If your heat doesn’t work after this you have air in your system)
A while back I had a critical coolant leak and I was worried it was a head gasket, it was always coming from the back of the engine and I never saw that hidden hose back there, it had a hidden hole in it.
And for some reason finding parts for the OUTLET hose was much more difficult than finding ones for the inlet hose.
So if you ever have a serious leak these are the hoses that I’m seeing on a lot of these models go first online.
I don’t recommend it but for me I used some tight silicone tape and it still leaked but it got me through waiting until my parts showed up.
