Heel & Toe shifting with the Sonic 6-speed?

I don't think this has been covered in any review- how is the pedal placement on these cars for heel/toe shifting? One thing that annoyed me in the hyundai Veloster I recently drove was that the gas pedal was too far forward for heel/toe action.

Hey sorry if I'm a little late to the party, I don't even know if you're still on these forums but about the heel and toe downshifting. Did you actually use your toes and heel? Because I've been trying it on the mountain and it's not working for me. I can however toe and toe downshift which is basically the same thing except my big toe is on the brake pedal and my pinky toe on the gas pedal.

When I heel toe in any car it's always big toe pinky toe. I just say heel toe. I suspect we are not alone. Just depends on foot size and pedal placement. "One foot throttle blipping" is a better term, just doesn't roll off the tongue quite as nice as "heel toe"

I heel toe constantly, or big toe little toe..W/E the pedal placement is good, but theres no instant throttle response. its almost useless in this car.

when spirited driving sometimes when im braking and downshifting at the same time my clutch foot catches my braking foot causing me to hit the brake hard for a split second . when ever i do it i lol cause ppl around me are probably like wtf mate! ive got big feet sometimes the peddles feel to close together.

I wouldn't say that my feet are big I wear an 8 1/2 size shoe in U.S. sizes. I just can't seem to hit the brake and gas with my toes and heel. It feels awkward. I can however hit it with both sides of my toes. I tried left foot braking the other day and wow. You really have to go light on that o:

Less heel toe, more ball of foot.

Left side ball of foot on edge of brake pedal, right edge of foot (obviously depending on your foot) blips throttle by rolling your ankle while you brake (or dropping your heel)

Your clutch and brake foot should not be close enough to make contact if you don't have huge feet

If you're asking heel-toe as a technique for racing, I've been taught but never really got the hang of it well. Need more practice I guess.

The right pedals make this a lot easier, the car I learned this on was simpler than any other car I've driven. It had aftermarket pedals that had a really grippy billet brake pedal, and the gas pedal was wider than most.

SRP makes aftermarket pedals for the Sonic, they can make em as grippy as you want for more pedal feel, and you can ask for a custom pair if you'd like a larger gas pedal. On my list of things to buy:

About the actual question, yes the pedals are about the same level so in theory if you were good at it you could do it, not like the veloster where the gas pedal is farther back.
