Help finding a paint code or part number

First of all, I feel pretty stupid for not paying attention to what I was doing.
(name calling and smart remarks will be accepted because of this)

Anyway ...

While I had my dash apart and the radio out, I did not notice that the metal of the rear of the radio had scuffed the silver?gray? paint on the plastic panel around the climate controls. It's hardly noticeable, but I know it's there and it bothers me knowing it's there.

Does anyone know where to find the correct or matching paint to repaint the plastic around the heater controls?

I don't really feel like buying a replacement plastic dash piece if I can just repaint it with factory or factory-color paint that will work and last the same way as the factory paint.

I now await the negative remarks for my actions (lol) but I also hope someone can find the paint code and or a place to buy it.

I don't know if there is a paint code for that. I have a feeling Laborsmith or theenico will have your answer.

I do not. Don't know if theenico does. I do not believe I have ever seen this question on any of the car forums I visit. You may need to go to one of the paint companies to get the specific mix.

What about contacting the Dealer for the paint code?

When I added dual scangauges in a gauge pod to my truck, the parts Dept was able to give me the code to match my dash color.

I know here in Canada at Napa Auto Parts, they can scan an item of the car and get the exact same colour for you and put it in a spray can. Only down side is the piece or object needs to be a good size so the machine can scan it properly. Dont know if it works on plastic pieces though, you can give it a try.

What he said, you can get it scanned and they can mix up a close match. The paint supplier for our shop was just bought by Carquest not long ago, so you might just try all of the auto parts stores in your area.

As for it to work on plastic pieces, just clean the part with a damp soapy (dish soap will work), wipe it with mineral spirits and dry it immediately, just to make sure no contaminates are on the surface, sand the part with some fine sandpaper (800 - 1500 grit) and the paint should stick good enough for just an interior part. If you are worried about it, you can get plastic adhesive promoter in a spray can to spray it with as well, before you paint it.

i cant find the paint code anywhere in my car and i did look at/in every place that i could think of where it could be but no luck.

Years ago I needed to repaint a glove box door and I went to an autobody supply store that exactly matched the interior color by a color code they were able to look up, not scanning in a sample. It was Wesco Autobody supply.
