Help with 2017 Chevy Sonic Premier Fog Light

So I got an aftermarket foglight kit for my Chevy Sonic. All I was able to do was pry the old plastic clips off and replace them with ones with cut outs for the fogs and replace the Non Fog Light dial/switch with the one that has a fog button.

Does anyone know if the 2017s need to have their computers flashed at the dealer to recognize the fog lights?

Your car didn't come with fog lights so you whould have to get light switch that has fog lights dial/switch or put a independent switch just for the fog lights

I'm aware. I've already installed the OEM switch with fog light button. I'm just wondering what else I'll need and whether it not the BCM needs to be reprogrammed at a Chevy dealer

Yes, the dealership has to flash the software to use the OEM switch.

I imagine cost would depend on the dealership. Have to call them and ask.

So I dont see anything on the diagram for front fog lamps, only rear fog lamps and I dont think that's where the front ones should go. So where should it go?

Omg. I'm actually retarded. Thank you. Dont know how I missed that. Also does an OEM kit exist for the 2017- Present models? The one I got is an aftermarket kit purchased off Ebay and doesnt have detailed instructions. It's the only one I was able to find.

So I'm unable to find an OEM kit for 17-19 models however Im wondering if a 13-15 Chevy Trax Fog Light harness might work for my car considering a lot of parts are shared from different models, such as the plug n play Cruze lighting control switch that I've already installed.

I spoke with a technition at the dealer and they cant program the vehicle without an authorization code and unfortunately there is no way to get one since the 2017-present models do not have a OEM kit.

Does anyone else have knowledge on this? Can one be used from a 2016 Sonic foglamp kit?

I wired mine with a relay harness to the parking lights so they run at night, but if you want it to work like factory i don't think there is any other way than dealer programming

Yeah dealer programming isnt even an option because GM wont/cant give the dealer the software without an authorization code from an OEM kit and there is no OEM kit for the 2017-2019 models. Unless buying an 2012-16 OEM kit and using that code is an option.

I bought mine thru this site on amazon. Came with the fog lights and a wiring harness. Very easy to install. Maybe this could help.

I have my foglight installed and wired into the fuse box, I just cant turn them in. Im trying to retain the OEM look and have it function with the dash switch as if it came with from the factory.

To do that the dealer needs to flash the BCM but they won't do it without a bull**** code from an OEM 12-16 foglamp kit, which wouldn't make sense to buy being that the 17+ model has different styling than the 2012-16 models.

You could try pulling a signal from the switch on whatever pins the button goes to and send those to a relay.

Test for continuity or voltage at pin 12 when the button is depressed.
That pin is labeled "Lighting Control Switch Signal"

But in reality it is easier to wire them to the parking lights,
Thats what I did.

Yeah the parking lights would be great that’s what I should’ve did I ordered a aftermarket bc iknew the dealership wouldn’t flash unless you buy a oem kit with the code so now I have hooked up to a switch on the inside which I could hide and take it off the dash and put where the fuses are in the inside and control it to another switch which is for my under glow lights

Looks really nice with the fog lights!

I'm just super nit picky about the whole OEM function thing even to the point where im willing to pay $200 for the kit, just for the code. I have a feeling that code doesn't even have anything to do with the software and is basically a license key.
