HELP with new head unit wiring

I am trying to get steering wheel controls to work to no avail. I have this 12 pin connector, and no idea where it goes. I already have the 3.5mm connector in the back of the hu, but I'm not really sure how this works. Is this the wrong swc adapter? All the guides say to look at the led but the little black box doesn't even have an led on it.

I think you are missing a box. Thats a steering wheel interface harness that should have the 3.5 mm coming off of it. That plugs into the ASWC interface. Then you can program it and use your controls.

Jesus, how does it all fit in there with 2 boxes...? I'm having trouble just getting it all in there with the one. So if I get this one Axxess Aswc 1 Steering Wheel Control for Aftermarket Radios No Harness | eBay without any of the wiring I should be able to plug it right into that 12 pin harness?

Yea u already have the harness there. It should just plug in.

Another issue/question. When I turn the car off and remove the key the stereo is turning off after about 30 seconds but before I open any doors. Is this normal? It seemed like with the stock radio it would continue to play for about 5 minutes. The windows still operate after the stereo shuts off, so I am not losing accessory power prematurely, just the stereo. I checked the manual and it didn't specify any settings I could change. Any ideas?

No the radio will shut off around 30 sec after the key is off. It retains the RAP function but not as long as factory. You could also turn the stock radio on at any point without the key. The aftermarket you cannot.
