I am here on behalf of my girlfriend. She has a 2014 Sonic LT hatchback. We are located in Ontario Canada and so far it hasnt been a great experience with this car. Im hoping to get some guidance here..
Thank god for warranties, this car has been in the shop about 5 or 6 times now and we have owned it for about a year now. Be it for power seats or heated seats not working, AC problems, rust etc.
The latest being the rust. Yes we live in Canada and yes we get snow and salt thrown on our roads. BUT the car was "rust proofed" by the dealer as soon as we bought it (which was a complete joke of a job that they did) AND we had it properly done by Krown rustproofing as well. Just last week, we noticed rust appearing on the hatch where the "beauty" bar is located. It is rusting around it. All i can say is wtf! Brand new car, rustproofed twice before the winter and didnt even last a year before rust started.
I take care of my car and it has influenced on to her, so this car has been babied since the day we bought it ( and we bought it brand new). The front end has even been clear wrapped to prevent rock chips and rust from forming etc.
Went to the dealer, they couldnt check on it since the "manager' wasnt there. Im sure any half wit can notice rust, but anyways we booked an appointment to meet with him and he didnt even show up this morning. It is about a 25min drive one way to get to the dealer. We are starting to get fed up with GM and how its treating customers and making cars. She is regretting buying the car.
We have a relative that works for another car company and he says that we should be getting a complete new hatch since the car is new and not just a paint job. I highly doubt GM will do this since our relative works for a more 'expensive' brand.
So my question is, do you think GM would give us a new hatch? Would calling GM customer service help at all? Its like we're running in circles here
