Holy Crap the factory Hankooks SUCK!

So we got a DUSTING of about 2" of dry powder day before yesterday.... and the car, wouldn't MOVE unless it was flat ground.... I've never had a set that were that crappy..... I looked on tire rack.. WOW... the reviews confirmed my opinion....
with some good will from family, I managed to order a set of General Grabber AltiMAX RT43 in the factory size. most of the reviews are stellar and snow seems to be a huge strong point for them.. 2 came today, the other 2 got left at the warehouse and will be here tomorrow. They are scheduled for install Friday morning hopefully....

First, search is your friend. There are multiple threads on this exact topic. Second, learn how to drive your car in the snow.

I purchased mine in the winter and drove just fine on the stock tires. They handled up to 6" of snow just fine for what the tire is. Its a cheap all season that is designed to work most of the time in most regions the car is sold. The only times I had issues involved ice on the roads. Unless you have a studded tire ice will always give you issues.

That being said, I run snow tires in the winter. I have for years, but the first winter of having my Sonic was done on the stock tires due to a lack of time/availability of snow tires at the time.

I have the stock hankooks and yes,they are terrible in the snow.

Oh wow...the RT43s for my 15 inch wheels are cheap on tirerack.

How are they handling wise? My 15 inch 65 series have a lot of sidewall..while the RT43s are H rated wouldn't we get a stiffer sidewall from a non-touring tire ?

FYI: my other cars have the Older General Altimax and they have good handling.
