How good is a tuned Sonic... Really?

Hi Gang,

I'm in the market for a fun commuter and have been lurking here for a couple of months now.

I had a rental Sonic (auto) and it was a fun ride. Since then I've tested a 6mt and liked the feel, but the performance wasn't what I was looking for.

I've also test drove:
Fiesta ST
Civic Si
Veloster turbo
Forte Koup
Scion TC
VW GTI

Now I'm not looking for an apple to apples comparo with those cars, but I'm looking for a similar driving "feel" if that makes any sense.

I'll be buying a used car between $10k-15k. If I go Sonic I can get into a 2012-13. Civic Si I'm looking at 07-08, etc.

I keep reading about how the tune really wakes the Sonic up & I'd enjoy modding the car. I just want to make sure that it's going to have that dynamic I'm looking for when tuned.

Anybody in Spring, Tx have a tuned Sonic that they want to take me for a spin in?
