Hello everyone, I have not found a suitable switch yet but everything else is run so i am going to show you how i made a switchable fuse to bypass the traction control completely. First off you will need a spare sonic fuse, a fuse holder, some wire ( i used 18 guage for ease of running through the firewall) a soldering iron, some heat shrink, and some wire ties. For tools i used a phillips head screwdriver, some wire strippers, and the cleaning rod from my ak47 (more on this later).
First things first, take your spare sonic fuse and trim the plastic from the top of the blades untill you reveal the upper blade which has a hole in it. once you have done this ( a sharp knife is all you need) you can attach the 18 guage wire through the hole and solder it onto itself like this.
Next take some heat shrink and surround the top of the posts and heat with a lighter to help hold its shape, (for when you blow the fuse). Like this.
For the next part you want to make sure that your system is protected when your abs is on so you will put an inline fuse holder with a 30 amp fuse, so that it is protected like it was stock. also you should solder all connections to avoid issues later.
Now that you have your fuse together and soldered short it on a battery to blow the fuse that you soldered to. now what you have is basically a place to wire a switch that will fit into the origional fuse location and it will still be fused when you have your switch in the closed setting.
The next thing you need to do is to get this wire for your switch through the firewall. For this part i used the cleaning rod from my ak to shove through the rubber boot on the firewall with my wires attacked to the port of the rod where your cleaning patches go, like this.
Once you run the two wires inside the cabin you can choose wherever you mount your switch.(i havent found one suitable yet, I will update this and show you what i pick out, there is a switch at work that i might buy for this.
anyway, from here you need to zip tie your line down from the fusebox to where you went through the firewall.
next you need to cut a small portion of your fusebox so that your wire can run through without putting stress on the area where it stabs. Like this.
once that is done the cover will snap right on without issues. I will include more photos when i have found a suitable switch, but for now my wires are in my center console held together with a wirenut, until i get a suitable switch. I appologise for the crappy pix, they were taken with a blackberry, and this is my first diy ish thread. I hope this helps some of you.
