Hello all!
I just picked up a gently used 2013 Sonic RS yesterday (05/12). I was having some difficulty locating a manual transmission without a sunroof around here, but I finally found one. I had to drive a couple of hours to get it, but I'm very satisfied that I did. It's a Certified Pre-Owned car with 7300 miles on it, and I paid considerably less then a comparable new one.
To make a long story short, I've always preferred heavy RWD cars, but that changed a few years ago when I was introduced to the SCCA and Autocross. After driving all of the sub compact car offerings in 2011, I picked up a new Mazda 2 shortly after they came out. I started running that car on a regular basis, and absolutely loved how nimble and peppy it was. Fast forward a few years and a few life changes (my garage is only so big, after all! ) I ended up autocrossing my wife's 2011 Ford Mustang, which is sadly an automatic. My wife doesn't drive the car at all any more, and I was longing for something nimble, cheap to autocross (tires), and a 3rd pedal. Now that there is finally a United States and UAW built offering in the sub compact car class, I was more then happy to take a look at the Sonic. I've been shopping for one for several months now.
I fully expect to keep it 100% stock until the warranties run out. For now I just plan on another set of wheels and tires of Autocross duty (and perhaps a set for Rallycross). Once that threshold is crossed, then I'd like to start on modifications.
This looks to be a great board and I'll contribute where I can. It's been very useful for me when I've been researching the car.
