Well, If you didn't know I'm unemployed at the moment and I'm going through some places to try and find a job as well as all the normal job hunting routes. But anyways, the dealer that I bought my sonic at is looking for salesmen, and they work with one of the entities I'm using for career development and I may have a job at a Chevy dealer in the next few weeks
If only they didn't close the GM factory in MA that my grandfather retired from, life would be easy lol

Depending on the dealer, selling cars can either suck hard core or just kind of suck.

Just out of high school I worked as salesman at a high volume dealership for about 8 months. Its a tough career even in the best of times. Probably the best job in sales is working with fleet and business customers, but thats hard to walk right into...the show and dance they want you to put on as a regular salesperson is awkward for normal people.

On the other hand we did have enough cars used and new that there was a couple bets of what was faster and the obligatory drag races behind the dealership almost everyday.

I had a good time but in the end the business practices were too much for me to look past. I suppose the right management and dealer could be different, but as a customer I have yet to see this in operation.

I too worked at a dealer for a year+ after HS to save up for college, but in the Parts department (started as a delivery driver, ended up running shipping and receiving)...I found it great, not as much potential for money, but at least it was steady, reliable cash.

I have always thought that if I lost my current tech job I would look into the car broker business...everyone of my co-workers, family and friends already come to me when they are looking to buy a car...I love the research and finding something that fits their needs exactly.
