My lease was ending for my Chevy Orlando; my usual sales guy called me up and said "we've got a 2016 Sonic available, and since you're one of our few stick-shift people, we're prepared to give you a good deal".
I knew nothing about the Sonic, but I was eager to try a manual vehicle again after five years driving the Orlando. I'd had a Saturn Ion and a Chevy Cobalt previously, both stick.
So, off to the dealership I went. I was a bit rusty after five years of driving automatic, so I just cruised it around the parking lot in 2nd for a few minutes, and decided to go for it. It looked like a solid little 4-door grocery-getter, and the price was right.
Only now am I realizing how much car is under the hood of this thing. I named the car Zippy the Pinhead. and was completely unprepared for how much this car wants to take off when you hit the gas.
And I'd like to say I haven't seen the dancin' banana icon in a long time.
