Is a paint correction worth it?

I've had my Sonic (black, 2017) for about a year now...I've started washing the car myself at home and notice plenty of scratch and swirls on the vehicle. Most were there before I purchased the car. I was recommended doing a paint correction at a detail shop.

Anyone have any luck with having it done? Is it worth it?

It largely depends on who does the work.

Myself. . do a double hand wash, use some clay bar on it. Then use some fine grade swirl remover or mild polishing compound. The apply a good sealant and after at least 24 hours a top coat of wax.

I want to do that but do not trust myself enough to get it done properly. I figured I have a professional do it this time and I can clean it myself after and keep it looking good.

How much do they want for it? I had a local detail guy do an exterior buff/seal/wax of my wife's sedan for $100. There were some pretty deep scratches on one of the front fenders from when I used a rough scour pad my accident when washing it... ouch. But, I caught it before I did too much of the car. The guy had to do that side of the car twice, but he didn't charge extra for it. For me it was well worth it.

350 for the whole car. I think it's more permanent than a buff and clay. The service is through my local car wash, which I trust and have been going to my whole life.
