Is tuning a good idea on a high mileage sonic?

I just found this site and see a lot of talk about adding a tune. Is this something that's recommended on a new car only, or could my old 2012 get some benefit without blowing itself up? It's my only commuter, so I don't want to break it or mess with the longevity.

I also have a 2012 hatch that is high mileage, tuned and modded. The tune has had no negative effects on my car, only positive. I have a custom tune from a very reputable local tuner. My son's 2013 RS and my daughter's 2014 LT both have the BNR EFIlive tune on them and I highly recommend it. Here's a pic of my mileage from Friday on my way home.

Not only are there plenty of old* Sonics running tunes with no ill effects, there are plenty of folks who decline to tune or do anything else until their warranties run out. Silly, IMO, but it is the opposite of "don't tune it unless it's new," an idea I haven't seen anyone but you express.


*the Sonic first came out in 2011, which means there are no "old" Sonics, only some that are a little older or have a few more miles than others.
