Yeah man!
That oil leak was quite something. I have all the receipts for what they did. I will try to upload them. They did everything. Oil pan gasket, front cover, head gasket, one of the VVT cam solenoids, intake manifold, thermostat housing, and a whole lot more. This is all over the 6 times I had it there. I pointed out to the service writer, and showed them pictures of where the oil leaking from, I brought them cardboard I kept under the car to show them the oil. They asked me why I thought it was leaking oil. Hmmm, my leaking oil light came on lmao jkjk. Well anyway after all that, I was out of warranty, and it was still leaking oil. I knew exactly what it was. The oil cooler was leaking past one of the o rings and dripping on the exhaust. I got a o ring kit for it for like $9. But I also changed all the hoses and lines under the turbo and to the turbo since I was in there already. Then while I had the turbo off, I saw a crack on the exhaust side of the turbo, so I had to order a new turbo. I really am kicking myself for not getting the Big Wheel Turbo from ZZP since I was replacing it anyway. I replaced everything and she drives happy! I really do drive it hard, and it just keeps going. I love the Sonic. I want to possibly change to the close ratio 6 speed from the RS in the future and see how it compares to the older 2012 style 6 speed. For now, I have a GM Performance clutch and flywheel I got from ZZP I've been waiting to install. I just haven't had the right time to do it. I'm hoping I get to it in the next month or so. Well anyway, that's my oil leak story. I only had the dealership do the work because it still had a warranty at the time. Ive been working on cars since I was 16 taking a BOCES auto class. Then I went to OTC and got an associates degree and was trained in auto and diesel repair, so I have some experience with cars. Ok I'm going now, peace out!
