Just bought my Sonic tonight.

Hey Everyone,

Not sure if anyone from the various Cobalt forums is on here (I had two 2009 SS's), but I purchased a Victory Red 1LT w/1.4T + 6 spd tonight + cruise and connectivity.

The car is actually ON THE TRAIN in Kansas City still, so I won't have it until this weekend.

Really looking forward to playing around with the car. The car, while not as powerful, really fixed a lot of the nagging issues my Cobalts had. For the money, I really don't think theres a better sub compact available in the US right now, but I'm sure some will disagree.

I'm a DIY / HPT guy, but that said they have nothing for me yet :\

I'll post up my driving impressions soon as I can! I drove around a white 1.4T/manual for half the day today. I didn't want to totally slam around the dealers car though so we'll see

I had a 2009 Coupe and then a 2009 Sedan, but both are sold or traded now. Since then I've not been active on CSS at all... site was kinda ridiculous (no offense to anyone).

That happens to any site when the immature teens (because not all are), fanboys, and internet racers start joining. It will eventually begin to happen here. And when it does the ban hammer will be applied liberally!

So who's going to be the first person to dump a 2+ liter short block in their Sonic?

I have some high hopes for these cars. The grabbag of parts GM has out there and the fact the motor is port injected vs. GDI will help quite a bit. In time I know all the usual tuning suspects will have the PCM open too.

I hope we'll have an interesting mix of people hypermiling and also folks building hot hatches. I really think GM is going to sell a bunch of these cars. FWIW my wife who's on here second Yaris is pretty jealous.

I'm sure someone will do it, but it sure as heck won't be me! I will get a tune and do something with the exhaust, but that will be about it.

At last! I have my Sonic.

Sorry for the crappy pics, it was absolutly raining cats & dogs here in Kansas tonight. Even with the bad driving conditions I got 36mpg on my way back home. The rain was literally going sideways but the Sonic was quite surefooted and didn't feel like it was getting tossed around in the wind like our Yaris does.

My wife loves her Yaris, but deep down I can tell she'd rather be driving this
