Just got vinyl stripes put on...anything i need to know?

Hey guys! So i just got vinyl stripes put on the sonic!
Is there anything I need to know about caring for them?
It looks like it might rain by me and I dont have a garage
Or anywhere to put my car where it wont get wet. Is it okay
That the vinyl gets wet on the first day? Also, when will i be able to
Wash/wax my car again? And any good products I should use
To keep them from fading/peeling/etc?

I'd try to keep'em dry for a couple days and out of direct hot sun, til they settle.

Then I'd wait another week before wash/wax. None of this may be necessary, but better safe than sars. Also, be sure to use a car wash soap for washes, do not use anything harsh like dish soap. Hopefully that sounded obvious, but you'd be surprised what some ppl do.

I would ask the installer what is recommended. I would think you could get it wet and wax in short time.

I have never given vinyl any special treatment, wash it like normal

i don't have any stripes on mine, but if I did I wouldn't wax them, partially because I use black wax and it would stain the vinyl, but i dont think clear wax would hurt.

Id try to keep them from getting wet for the first day or so. that way the vinyl has time to set to the car. As for washing, i havent used anything special and havent had any issues with my stripes. Just simple car wash products and whatever is used at an automatic car wash here and there. Still doing good so far. Looking forward to seeing your sonic with the stripes on it. ive used ICE Detailer Wax spray on my sonic and sprayed it over the stripes also and havent had any issues with it hurting the stripes. Car shines like no tomorrow when i do.

Stripes

I just put these stripes on my car. I wasn't sure at first if I'd like them but once I saw them on my car I loved them. Only got the hood stripes on so far. Doing the roof and the back tomorrow. I may redo the hood since I have a few bubbles (used way too much soap in my spray) and it was a pain in the a** to squeegee all the water/soap out for them to finally stick. Not too bad for my first time trying them. They are nice from afar but far from nice

Exactly what I was looking at doing. The "any car" eBay kit is under a hundred bucks. They do several colors too.

Pulled over

I got pulled over today on a long mountain road by a State Trooper who drove past me then turned around and pulled me over. Asked for my license (no registration) and said I was doing 69 (driving in a 55). Absolute BS, I was doing maybe 62 max. He let me go without a ticket. So it got me wondering. Do these stripes paint a huge target for cops? Thinking about removing them if cops are just going to make assumptions about me for having them. If I was really going 14mph over I don't think I would have gotten a warning. He was either full of s*** and just wanted to look into my car or he is the nicest cop ever. What do you think? opcorn:

Anything that is aftermarket in general that doesn't look or sound factory will create more attention. Also, you are more likely to get pulled over with a red car than any other. They stick out more. imo

I say probably depends on the type of finish you have, I have one of the stripe kits GM offers that was on the car since I bought it. I like it a lot it's what drew me to the car but after a year and a half it is not holding up well. It use to be more of a matte silver color but now it's dark grey which is fine but it is stained and chalky (until you rub it like hell but still stained). I am at the point where I need to replace it or just keep it off. Maybe if it has a more glossy finish you don't get it but I am no expert. Good luck
