Hi folks,
it’s me, Lenny, your new board-member writing this lines. First of all, let me say hello to everyone here and congratz to the administration for this awesome platform .
To my person: I'm from Germany, loving US-Cars and being involved in the German US-car-scene since many years. It all started in the 90’s after driving several Audi’s buying a ’94 Pontiac Firebird. My current ride is a ’97 Cadillac Eldorado, that had been imported in 2001 from North Carolina. It’s an amazing car for me and it’s a turning-heads-object here on the European streets ! Have a look at this car, if you want:

Klick 2
But now, “why are you entering our SONIC-Forum”, you might ask !? Well, my wife’s drive is a ’95 Ford Fiesta, let`s say, a nice shopping bag on wheels . Our youngest son now would like to have it for getting to work since he’d finished his job training and now –thank God!- is employed.
Keeping the chance for my wife to spend my money on shopping tours there had to be a new car. According to my affinity to US-cars, we were looking for the “right” one. To cut a long story short we decided on the Chevrolet Sonic, which is called “AVEO” here in Europe, as you already might know from other forum members from the Netherlands (Hello FERDIE ) or Spain (Hello ICARO , Hello ARMUDE). You see, I walked around on this board !
Our new AVEO/SONIC now is ordered and it will take 2-3 months time to get it. It`s a summit-white LTZ Hatchback equipped with a 1.3 ltr. Turbo-Diesel engine !!! I think, this engine is not available in the States, so I’ll give you some informations:
95 HP,
torque 210 Nm (155 lb-ft),
max. speed ca. 174KM (108 mls.),
6-speed manual transmission,
0-60mph 11,7s
fuel economy (factory data):
- overall 4,1 ltr/100KM (57 mpg),
- city 4,8 ltr./100KM (49 mpg),
- highway 3,6 ltr./100KM (65 mpg).
I did a testdrive with a demonstration car last week, and its DIC digits an average consumption of 4,9 ltr./100KM (48 mpg) after 2576 KM. So I think this might be the real data for our daily driving characteristics. But it’s nearly 3 ltrs. less as with the Fiesta before – FINE!! Furthermore it even offers me a lot of room for my big dimensions (1,98m, 125 Kg) ----- if my wife will ever allow me to drive this little beauty !
So, for the first time this is all I’d like to tell you. But sorry, directly I have two questions:
As you’ve read above, i’m an US-car freak and i know, that this car is not a “real” US-one. But i like your labeling “SONIC” so much more than our “AVEO” (even hating it ??). I’d like to change the rear emblem to SONIC (w or w/o LTZ), but this is not available here in Europe as far as i could figure it out 'til now. So, if s.o. has cleaned his/her SONIC and would offer the logo or has another idea/address/information/connection on how to get this emblem, PLZ LET ME KNOW !!!
The second question is for the stereo (6-speaker-version): I couldn’t check it out while testdriving last week, but it seemed to me, that it’s a little bit weak ??
So, now I will go on reading the board for more information, wishing all of you nice times with your SONIC’s/AVEO’s…..........
