Lowered the sonic today

After attending sowo and being around low cars all weekend, my girlfriend really grew a stronger desire to lower her car. We talked about it quite a bit before, but after she experienced the car scene a little more, it became more serious. We ended up buying that used set of BC's off of here and we did the install today. I honestly was surprised, coming from a euro standpoint the install was almost identical, even the rear torsion beam is similar. The install took about 4.5 hours overall and were quite happy with the results.

Hopefully next we'll find a set of wheels in time for h2oi. We're leaning towards rotiform. They're a great company and their new cast line is awesome. The only conflict is the whole bolt pattern thing... I know some people swap lugs for wheel studs, but what about the other way around? I figure if we did something like that, I could pick up a set of used 5x100's relatively cheap and just run adapters.

Anyone on here attending h2oi?

Where did you get your roof rack from and how many dollhairs was it?

The roof rack we got off of eBay from "quirk parts" it's the OEM sonic rack and then we retro fit the Thule fairing by cutting part of the clips and drilling the screws into the bottom of the rack. The rack alone I think was like $210 shipped? Fairing was $60

And no, we left the perches in the rear and the bump stops on the struts. In the front there's like 8 threads left lol. This is her first low car so I didn't wanna completely slam it, especially without a skid plate. The front lip is about an inch or two off the ground.

coming together nicely! i used to have a bagged 2003 GTI on rotiform nues, i understand the love there, and its actually what made me want the sonic so much xD

looking to get either a set of nues or the new mk3's for the sonic, and you can get them to drill you're bolt pattern for not a whole lot more if that's a concern. been a while since i checked, but i wanna say getting the wheels re-drilled to 5x105 is cheaper than getting adapters, but if you want the ability to sell the wheels later to get something else, it may be a better idea to do the adapters so if/when you sell, you can market the wheels to at least 2 different car groups

That's the struggle right now haha. I think I'm just gonna search vortex for a set of 5x100's and get them redrilled. That way they already lost the "new wheel" value already.

Post a picture of the mk4! I drive a bagged mk6 Jetta on VSP type 1's. The sonic is my girlfriend's. I might be flipping my Jetta after this season, I really want a mk4 :R

No pics unfortunately :/ been through 6 cell phones and 4 Facebook accounts since I got rid of it and didn't have instagram until a little over a year ago. But I'll try to paint a picture with words lol it was black, slammed on its nuts, and white nues. That was it other than an intake for pssshhh noises haha

It was my first forced induction car, so naturally, I didn't know what the hell I was doing and it didn't last long
