Hey guys, so, if you couldn't tell by now basically when we have down time I pretty much talk to the wife and ponder stuff for the car when I get back.. and I been thinking about a few things I need more knowledge on, first, would porting our intake like the 1.4 guys do be worth it? I think our intake is annoying the more I read about it, and I think its holding this motor back, in time im sure we will have more options.. 2, what about top end work? I only know older cars but I know a good set of cams and some valve work can really wake a motor up, whos out there that's good with this ecotec head? 3, 6 speed, idk if the 1.8s come with a 6 speed clutch I know they do auto and I could use the extra gear on my road trips, will the 6 speed just bolt up to our motor? probably wait till I do clutch n flywheel to do 6 speed swap, hmmm ideas ideas... I want the electrical system hittin hard to I got ngk plugs I honestly don't like the coil pack thing we got goin on, I like plug wires, ridiculously big 10mm plug wires lol for no good reason.. what else can we ponder...

From what I have been able to find, the 1.8 does not appear to have the same tumblers as the 1.4 manifold. While the 1.8 manifold has a few annoyances I dont think its holding us back that much,

Cams would be a nice option, but I have yet to find any options other than begging a company to do a regrind on one. Oversize valves tend to be more of a hinderence on 4 valve heads based on what I have seen. The valves end up to close to the edge of the combustion chamber and if creates flow issues. Dont expect to many experts in this country for working on improving the head on this engine. Before the Cruze its only other use in this country was in the Saturn Astra. That was an even more limited market than what we have now.

I am looking into a 6 speed swap myself. As of now it looks like I will need a transmission, shift cables, and shifter assembly. Looking like next year for me.

6 speed is part of my plan for 50 MPG.

I am used to messing with the poorly supported engine for a platform.
