If I tell myself that enough times, maybe it'll be true.
Anyhow, I bought a 2013 Sonic about a month ago with one of those goofy transmissions that makes you put your beer down whenever you want to shift gears. Wasn't really what I was looking for... I actually went to the dealership to look at a 98 Blazer they had, then the Sonic kinda caught my attention because the headlights looked weird, and the dash looked even weirder looking from the outside. So the salesman went ahead and grabbed the keys while I was trying to figure out what exactly I was looking at, one thing led to another, so now I have a 2013 Sonic.
Yeah, something like that.
Funnily enough, it's among the lower end cars that I've yet, yet has some of the fanciest features. I can plug my phone or iPad and play music with that, which I've only ever had that with an aftermarket head unit on a 97 Blazer I owned previously, and a lot of stuff that was optional on previous cars I've owned is apparently standard. No remote start, though. Just as well because I park it in gear anyhow. I can see what definitely could go wrong there.
Joined the forum primarily for pointers on removing and reinstalling dash panels. I'm a mechanic by trade, but my field is heavy equipment, so to work on something this size for me reminds me of when my neighbor asked me to hold her baby while she checked on food she had cooking in the kitchen, and I'm just staring at it like, "What in the hell am I supposed to do with this?". I do the whole two way radio thing, and I'm planning on installing a CB in mine. Given the size of the case of the one that I have and that I already have a commercial UHF radio mounted to the passenger side of the center console, it looks unfortunately like a dash mount is going to be the only viable option. I want it to look professional, though, not like some hack job Cletus and 'the boys' did while under the influence of PBR.
