We just replaced our 2000 Cavalier Z-24, convertible, RV tow car with a new Sonic LT Hatchback, 1.4 Turbo. We love our new little car.
The mods...we plan are different than most. If K&N makes an induction system I always upgrade my cars and this Sonic will get the available K&N kit. Then we will be installing a Roadmaster base plate, EZ tow bar brackets and possibly a Brakemaster 9000, so we can hook up the Sonic to our 40 foot motorhome. Depending on drivability and mileage a Trifecta budget tune may also be on that upgrade list.
UPDATE:about our new RV tow car... After putting 750 miles on our Sonic, it was obvious (since honey was complaining the car doesn't go right away)needed something to help with the turbo lag. After spending a few hours reading reviews here, I decided to give the Trifecta canned tune a try. WOW, we have a different car...no we have a new car. The difference in our Sonic's stock acceleration with 13 lbs of boost before tune and now with Trifecta canned tune and 20 lbs. of boost needs to be experienced before you will really understand the difference this tune makes. We bought this car to be tow behind our motorhome...since installing the tune I've left our Beemer in the garage...the Sonic is just to much fun. If you want power...you've got it...however if you want economy you get that too. The car is new but for the first 1000 mi. before the Trifecta tune the best mileage obtained, was 27.8.
Yesterday on a Sunday we drove 175 miles on Southern California Freeways and we were able to pull a 35.2 mpg avg. with 91 octane gas averaging 68 mph with our automatic trans Sonic. The Trifecta tune...is the only performance upgrade this car will need.
