So before i ask a couple questions, i have a 2012 1.8 5 speed sonic with 190k and my only thing i've added was a k&n intake and a full audio system(god damn that factory stereo is a poor excuse of a stereo). This month i've already replaced the transmission (bearing blew up and put a hole in the tranny), the alternator, 02 sensor and engine side wire harness for the 02. Coming up soon i'll be putting a new clutch in when i put a new motor in(currently has rod knock) and it also needs struts. So i kinda figured it'd be easiest to put a set of headers on it while doing the motor.
Now i understand the bnr headers are better than the zzp ones and a lot of that has to do with the zzp mid pipe reduction at the end but my question is i can't seem to find just how much of a difference between the two are? The bnr advertises 30hp(so about 165-170 crank hp?), but what can i expect with the zzp? Also how often does bnr restock their headers? Right now its out of stock and i really need to start getting all my parts lined up here to get my car going again. Also i planned on eventually getting the bnr tune and zzp catback. Basically i'm trying to determine if there's enough of a gain for the bnr set up to pay the difference and also have to wait to get my car back rather than just do the zzp, also if i did the zzp i could just do the header for now with the motor and save my money to do the mid pipe later with the catback, unless there's a way to buy the bnr headers and mid pipe separate that i'm not seeing?
Onto the catback, i'm planing on the zzp one unless you guys recommend one that just sounds unbelievably good? My main concern is how loud would that zzp catback be with headers if i got the catback with just the resonator and muffler vs getting the one with a cat and resonator and muffler? I commute 60 miles a day for college which doesn't really matter but i deliver pizzas at night and i'd like a good tone and some moderate noise but don't want it to be too loud as to annoy people when i deliver to them if you get what i mean, so i was leaning towards getting the cat to quiet it down a little more but i really have no clue. The only vehicle i've done an exhaust on was my mbrp dual side exit catback on my 5.7 hemi ram with an intake as well and that's plenty loud enough for me (friends got a straight piped 5.3 chevy and even he said he was surprised just how loud my ram got).
Sorry to ask a very similar question to ones that have been asked before but i've searched for answers and most recordings are of the 1.4turbo and ones that i can find have such crap mics i really can't tell how they sound or how loud they are, and the same friend had headers to straight piped rsx which was just stupid and sounded like crap at wot. Just trying to get some guidance here. Thanks everyone, and i hope all your sonics are doing better than mine
