new owner with a slight worry

Hi! I just signed the papers for a 2014 Sonic LT auto that I'll be getting next week. It was a rental/fleet car but it's still fairly low miles, and has the balance of the factory warranty. They didn't have paperwork on when the oil change(s) were done - should I worry that chevy might claim the warranty's been voided because of this? Thanks and I hope this isn't too much of a technical question to ask in this section.

I do my own oil changes and don't keep records of it.

I have never been asked for them prior to having warranty work performed.

Same goes for me as well. Unless you experience an issue that directly points to lack of oil changes/wrong type/lack of maintenance they wont ask for records of it.

Thanks, NewZJ and rsSteve! I got a black metallic, non turbo. This is the first car I've ever bought used, but that brought it to my price range with features I could not have afforded otherwise. I do know it had the electrical system 'serviced' and some type of body work done, but I looked it over closely and didn't see anything so I'm hoping it was minor. And there's still over two years of full warranty left.

A few people I told about the car had doubts, saying I had no idea how a rental had been driven. One even suggested I have a drug dog check it. I know they mean well, but it tends to stress one out, you know?

With it being at 2014 model i dont think it would of been in the fleet long enough to do much damage from abuse. I know quite a few members on here drive thier sonics to the limit and havent had many major problems. So i would think you should be fine as long as you keep up on maintenance. As long as you got it for a price you are happy with that is all that matters

People drive rental cars like their stolen. That being said most of us do too with our sonics. I doubt you have anything to worry about on that front. Id worry about an accident, I'd have a shop check over everything and pull a car fax.

They used a AutoCheck instead of carfax and it showed no accidents. I will be taking it to my garage to show it off and have him look at it.

Actually, most people drive the rental cars like they would any other car. Only younger folks beat on them. With a sonic, though, this isn't like it's a rental camaro - people don't rent Sonics to beat on them. The plus side is that rental companies do perform maintenance timely. So don't worry there.

I worked with a guy that used to manage enterprise fleet. Those cars are maintained per schedules.

I've always driven super careful in a rental just because I don't want to have anything happen with my insurance if it rains and gets hail damage or something. I always drive rentals WAY better than my own car just because I don't want to deal with any drama later.
