New Sonic LT in NoVa

Just got a new silver Sonic LT hatch and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I'll post pics as I make any mods so that I can hit my 10 post requirement for this site. opcorn:

First blacked out bowties

Black out my front and back bowties with black vinyl from Pep Boys. So far they are staying on nice and tight with no issues. Hope it stays that way.

Mounted Nexus 7 tablet

Second thing I have added was a tablet mount for my Nexus 7. I used the same Satechi mount in my truck and wanted to use it in my Sonic. I was not able to mount it on the dash due to the depth of the indention on the dash. Instead I turned the tablet mount on its side and suctioned it against the right pocket on the dash. I have been using it this way about a week and its still stuck tight on there. I use the tablet for my GPS since I use the Waze app which reports much more detailed and real time information. I live in Northern Virginia and the traffic is crazy so any way I can cut my commute is a good thing.

No place for change?

I was surprised that they was no spot I could keep my spare change and few extra dollars for an emergency so I have added a small black pencil case to my door pocket. Its small and hides well in the space and meets my needs. I'm a little OCD like that. :banana:

Out of curiosity, did you remove the emblem before vinyl wrapping it?

I left the emblem on and just covered it in vinyl and cut around it with a razor blade. Then I took a credit card and tucked all the edges in nice and tight so that it looked clean. I plan to paint the bowties black on the wheels but I am stuck with what to do about the emblem on the steering wheel. I tried twice to vinyl it but I couldn't get it looking right. I might just paint it and be done with. I just don't like the gold at all.

Back Bowtie Blacked Out

I hear ya. I've heard people taking markers to the steering wheel emblem and having some success. I just cant justify myself to do that, although that one doesn't bother me as much. I've been trying to find out how to remove the bowties completely, but was unsuccessful. I'll give your method a try this weekend. Secondly, did you use soap and water or apply it dry?

I like it! Looks pretty legit to me. I'm still in debate on whether I want to go blue and black or blue and white.

White would me new wheels for my Sonic, as well...

I only used an alcohol wipe that I clean my glasses with to give the emblems a good wipe down and put the vinyl on. The vinyl I got from Pep Boys was self adhesive and cost about 10 dollars for a long eight foot roll. I figured if it didn't work well then I would try a different type of vinyl but so far its been sticking good. I check it often and have run it through the car wash with no problems. Good luck!

Color Lugs

I ordered some black Color Lugs (ColorLugs - Home) for my Sonic and they should be coming today. I considered getting metal lugs to replace the factory lugs but thought I would try this option first to see if I liked the black lugs. I got the 19mm (3/4") lug caps. I'll check the mail in a bit and take pics once they are on.

ColorLugs on Sonic

I bought a set of black ColorLugs to go on the Sonic and just got them in the mail today. They were about $20 from ColorLugs and simply slide over the existing lugs. They look okay but I'm not sure if I will leave them on. I'm going to paint the emblems on the center wheel caps sometime this week so I'll decide then if I keep them on or not. I might like them more if I was doing a different color. Here is what they look like on the lugs in case your wondering:

I have seen other members who have black rims and have metal black lugs and I think that would probably look better since you wouldn't want two different shades of black on your wheels. I've seen prices ranging from $35 to $200. If its going on the blue Sonic in your pictures then maybe get some blue metal lugs to match your paint.

ColorLugs on Sonic

Here is a picture of the ColorLugs on the wheels from a distance. I wasn't too sure about them when I put them on but I am kind of liking them since it adds a little something visually. It is my commuting car so I'm not looking to go crazy on the mods.... even though I would like to.
