New Sonic owner

Hi, my name is L...I mean, cheetahcat79, and I'm a new Sonic owner as of Tuesday. This is my first brand-new car and so far I'm loving it.

1.8 as far as I know... 2013 LT hatch...leaving it stock for the foreseeable future. I just signed away 6 years of my life to payments at the local dealership after the motor in my 04 Ion bit the dust, but I've been a GM, especially Chevy, fan for years...one of my first cars was a 92 Z24, and I still miss it.

For a budget car this Sonic is pretty nice! It was the cheapest new car they had on the lot, but I don't feel like I'm settling for less than I wanted.

Assuming neither you nor the dealership decided to go nuts debadging, you should be able to tell easily by looking right under the "SONIC LT" badge on the back. There should be a "Turbo" badge if it's a 1.4T. No badge would indicate a 1.8.

Of course, the window sticker would also tell you.

There was no window sticker, but yeah, no badge, so 1.8 then.

Welcome to the site! The best way to tell which motor you have is to pop the hood and look at where the Air Intake Tube sits. If it comes out from behind the engine (Closer to the Windshield) its a 1.8L.... If the Intake Tube Comes out from the Front of the Engine (Closer to You in front of the car) Its a 1.4T Turbo Engine.
