I maintain 6 Aveos for the family and know every bolt. Just got a 2012 Sonic 1.8l hatchback at 96k for my sister. While the cars are obviously related, i have some learning to do!
Q1 - Inside the upper airbox cover there is what looks like a charcoal filter? What is it, why does it exist? Doesn't show on the diagrams, and this one has clearly been eaten by mice.
Q2 - I'm going through the entire maint schedule, changing fluids, replacing timing belt and water pump, replacing plugs, etc. Already dealt with suspention, tires, and alignment. Need to check the air intake boot for cracks. What's on the list for Sonic oddities that always need dealt with? For example Aveos had this plastic thermostat housing that always broke or leaked. Things like that.
