Nitrous ? Shot

Since our 1.4L is already forged internally would it be safe to run nitrous? I was thinking a 50 shot
But I wanted to see everyone else's thoughts?

No car is "safe" for running nitrous. May I ask why? Are you planning on raceing or just for an experiment or???

I don't think they have the internals forged because of the power output. I think it's more for less rotating mass. Also I would imagine that would float the values if already high output.

Almost all turbo applications are forged internals out car does have forged internals. Valve float would only matter if going above the rated rpm. Which I always shift at 5.5K

I know nitrous isn't technically "safe" for any car but just for drag events (maybe 4 times during the summer) and a little fun every now and then. Not gonna be used alot

The 1.8 has forged rods also, but it's manly for less rotating mass. That is why I brought it up

50 is safe, bnr has a kit and its tested.

the MOTOR in my 1.8 held a 75 shot, the trans did not.

If you're shifting at 5.5k, then nitrous is not for you....
you'd only have about 2k of nitrous use...

Is there anyone shifting a 1.4 higher than 5500? Besides possibly preloader in the future? You can go to 6k but it doesn't seem to give much if anything.

If you have fall off past 5500 then its great to fill the void with nitrous IMO... I'm guessing the turbo runs out of its efficiency range near there, so why not fill it with dope.

You don't want to engage the nitrous until you are WOT, I found in my sonic that it really liked when the window switch was set for 3000-6700. It really woke the car up... still slow as balls, but fun... while it lasted lol.

Yeah, I don't see it either. But DDMWorks does have one on their site:

My auto shifts at 6200 or there abouts.With the tuning it does not run out of power either

Ok i know this thread is 3 years old but a i have a magnaflow exhaust, kai and bnr tune. While 50 shot of nitrous will be safe or should i go with a 35 shot

For some people "tuning nitrous" is synonymous with flying a magic carpet. A small 20 shot can act like a 40 shot. There's a lot to take into consideration.... Tuned correctly, and not abused it can be as safe and reliable as any other form of forced induction. My brother has a WON controller and runs a small 30 shot.... Has been running it for a couple years. He said he has approximately 35-40 bottles (20lbs) through it, and no adverse side effects yet. I can vouch for the extra power.... It really picks up and hauls for what it is.
